WE ARE OPEN!
There’s beauty in the little things. The sun peeking through the clouds on a gray day. The winking smile of the bartender pouring you a pint. A cup of tea in the afternoon. The laugh of a new friend. Small things—like this tiny island off the coast of Great Britain. Come see why bigger isn’t always better. Why sunshine doesn’t always beat rain. It all makes sense in Ireland.
Developed by Lord Kenmare as a tourist town in the 18th century, Killarney is now the major tourist centre and accommodation base in Kerry. It is the centre for the Ring of Kerry tour, the focal point for the Killarney National Park and the Kerry Way Walking Trail.
Kenmare has been designated a heritage town and is beautifully situated on the Kenmare River between the Ring of Kerry and the Beara Peninsula. The town was planned and built in the 18th century by the 1st Marquis of Lansdowne, Sir William Petty. An 18 hole golf course is one of the most scenic in the country.
Formed by a melted glacier, this fresh water lake is located in the deep valley that runs through the Caragh River. It’s a great spot for fishing and recreational watersports. Get out of the water and hike the highest mountain on the island, Carrantuohill.
