Wonderful close encounters with wildlife

May

Pros: Lots of choices of activities, wonderful guides with all kinds of expertise, and good food.

Cons: I really can't think of any.

Recommended: No

Loved every minute on the Sea Lion. We traveled through the Panama Canal several years ago on this boat, and enjoyed Alaska on this boat.

Sea Lion Pacific Coast of Costa Rica and Panama Canal Crossing

December

Pros: Knowledgeable and excellent naturalist's and expedition leader. All were Costa Rican with one Panamanian to narrate the canal crossing.

Cons: Cabin was small but manageable.

Recommended: Yes

56 guests as ship is small compared to others have toured on. More than one activity offered with each stop. Long, more strenuous hikes as well as shorter, less strenuous walks. Lot of wildlife sightings. Kayaking, water boarding and snorkeling were offered. Zodiac rides were offered to view wildlife in some areas. One younger passenger, think 11 years old, who had a great time. Many family groups. Not for super young children, but probably 8-9 and older. Pre-ordered dinner entree and half portions were an option which was a huge plus. One did not have to remember what they ordered and could still choose, but most remembered what they had ordered! Sea Lion is doing this in order to curb wasted food. A lot of fresh salads and fresh fruit. Not a lot of sweets which was great.
